Musical Once We Had a Dream”: Children in the spotlight of human rights!
On August 15, 2025, the rousing musical “Once we had a dream” will be performed in the Otzberger Land region. This musical not only deals with the challenges of life, but also takes a critical look at pressing social issues. It's about human and child trafficking, the situation of indigenous populations in the Philippines, land grabbing and environmental pollution. The audience can look forward to an emotional performance that focuses on the individual fates and the dignity and rights of children.
The core of the piece is the realities of life of three Filipino children, which are accompanied by impressive dance and music performances from English and Filipino culture. Six actors, all young people from the Philippines, bring the topics to the stage and are supported by the renowned PREDA Foundation, Inc., a human and children's rights organization founded in 1974 by Father Shay Cullen. The PREDA Foundation is committed to combating sexual violence and supporting fair trade to combat poverty and exploitation.
Support for fair trade
The musical not only draws attention to social injustices, but also sets an example for fair trade. An example of such initiatives are WeltPartner's fairly produced mango products, which have already been advertised in various cities. These products represent the work the PREDA Foundation does and show how sustainable trading practices can make a positive difference.
The event takes place in a non-barrier-free setting, admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted. This allows the valuable initiatives of the PREDA Foundation to be further supported. It's a wonderful opportunity to address the issues that affect us all while seeing young talent on stage. A visit to this performance is definitely worth it!
Overall, the musical “Once We Had a Dream” impressively shows how art and social concerns can go hand in hand. The talents of the performers and the explosive topics make the event an absolute highlight in the region's event calendar. So don't miss out and get your tickets in time!
