Türk Gücü Friedberg welcomes champions FSV Fernwald: A hot duel!
Things remain exciting in the Hessenliga, because next Saturday at 3 p.m. Türk Gücü Friedberg welcomes the reigning champions FSV Fernwald. While Türk Gücü is in 12th place with 15 points after eleven match days, FSV are currently plagued by massive difficulties: with only 11 points they are in 14th and therefore the first relegation place. FNP reports that the Friedbergers have been able to impress so far this season with their defensive stability.
The last remaining matches between the two teams were anything but decisive for the title fight. In the previous season, all competitive games ended with a 1-1 draw, with Fernwald ultimately coming out on top in the Hessen Cup and reaching the quarter-finals. The FSV recently achieved a convincing 3-0 win against FC Turabdyn-Babylon Pohlheim, which will hopefully give new momentum for the game in Friedberg.
Upheaval in the team
Head coach Maik Vetter emphasizes that the Türk Gücü Friedberg boys feel the need for consistency and continuous scoring. It is quite possible that the new additions, who were recently used in the game against Hünfeld, can breathe new life into the team. These new players include goalkeeper Philipp Bagus, defender Marco Filges and midfielders Yassine Maingad and Maximilian Böger. Kamil Yikilmaz, who only came into the game in the second half, will also provide a breath of fresh air. The team is currently injury-free and ready for the challenge.
A painful loss hits the Friedberg community as Sebastian Weigand, the 2018 promotion hero, died at the age of just 34. A minute's silence was held before the final clash against Fernwald, which highlighted the emotions of the fans and players. Goal grenade describes how moving the atmosphere was on match day, when over 500 spectators were present.
The signs for the duel
As the past shows, the meeting between Türk Gücü Friedberg and FSV Fernwald was always characterized by balance. In the last game on the large grass field at Burgfeld, Friedberg was able to take a 1-0 lead, but had to accept the equalizer in return when Liridon Krasniq scored after a magnificent overhead kick. The score of 1:1 reflects a fairly fair encounter, which was fought passionately by both sides.
For the afternoon encounter on Saturday, Türk Gücü's coach, Maik Vetter, will hope that his selection will bring defensive strength back onto the pitch and perhaps also improve the offense - after all, a lot depends on it for both teams. Türk Gücü Friedberg seems to have a good knack for holding their own against the Fernwälder and in doing so has to break the tradition that was inherent in both teams last season.
