Rüdiger Brands and Maik Schön at the Mainuferlauf: Strong finish for Frankfurt!
The Main River Run in Offenbach last Sunday offered an exciting atmosphere for over 1,000 participants. Among them were the two runners Rüdiger Brands and Maik Schön from VLG Eisenbach, who are preparing intensively for the upcoming marathon in Frankfurt. “There is something going on” – this philosophy was noticeable in the two athletes, as they seemed determined to prepare well for this big day in two weeks. Sport11 reports that the half marathon route, which led along the picturesque Main, not only offered challenges but also impressive views of locks, ferries and lush meadows.
The challenge was clearly visible for Maik Schön: With a time of 1:28:13 hours, he came 77th in the overall ranking and secured 4th place in the M 55 age group, which represents a remarkable improvement of 6 minutes compared to the previous year. His teammate Rüdiger Brands followed him with a time of 1:33:05 hours as 138th overall and 9th in the M 55 age group.
Looking forward to the Frankfurt Marathon
The football classic in Frankfurt, the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon, is very popular. As one of the fastest marathons in the world, it offers a flat route profile with a minimal height difference of 27.8 meters. The route leads through various vibrant districts of Frankfurt - from Sachsenhausen via Niederrad to Höchst. Frankfurt Marathon seems ideal for both athletes to further improve their personal bests.
The marathon course record, set by Wilson Kipsang in 2011 with a time of 2:03:42 hours, is a goal for top athletes, but amateur athletes also have a reason to be happy. The average time for them is 3:57:56 hours - a battle that fascinates not only speed enthusiasts, but also recreational athletes.
Supply and Charity
On the marathon route, participants can expect well-thought-out refreshment points every 5 kilometers. This includes not only the popular Rosbacher mineral water, but also isotonic drinks, organic bananas, gels and bars from Powerbar. A special focus of the marathon is on the “Wünschewagen” charity project run by ASB Hessen e.V. Participants can make a donation of €4 by crossing a special donation mat, which will go directly to good causes.
Overall, the Frankfurt Marathon is an event that offers both professionals and amateurs a stage to live out their passion for the sport. “We are looking forward to the challenge and are ready to give everything,” adds Maik Schön. With one last look at the clock and the fresh memories of the Mainuferlauf, Brands and Schön are in the starting blocks for the big day.
