SPD bike tour in Niederrodenbach: Projects for more family friendliness!

On June 14, 2025, the SPD parliamentary group in the Rodenbach municipal council took the bikes into their hands and led an exciting bike tour through the picturesque Niederrodenbach. The aim of this tour was to view ongoing projects and talk to citizens who urgently expressed their concerns and suggestions regarding cycling infrastructure.

The tour took the members of the SPD parliamentary group, among other things, to the cycle path between Würzburger Straße and Rodenbach, which is currently being upgraded with a water-bound ceiling. A clear sign of the burgeoning cycling infrastructure in the region: According to the ADFC's guidelines for comfortable cycling infrastructure, cycling should become safer and more attractive. The aim of these efforts is to get more people on bikes, which not only benefits health but also the environment reports the ADFC.

Environmental and traffic protection go hand in hand

Particularly noteworthy is the planned minor relocation of the Rodenbach in front of the town entrance, which was discussed during the bike tour. This measure is intended to serve as a retention area and help to better counteract the dangers of heavy rain. This makes it clear how closely environmental protection and transport policy are linked.

The current construction work on laying fiber optic cables at the Pop locations on Erfurter Straße was also discussed. The fiber optic cables will be laid along the cycle path to Oberrodenbach, where most of the work has already been completed. Networked infrastructure is the key word!

Attractions for all generations

Another highlight of the bike tour was the visit to the new Am Eichenhain playground, which left positive impressions. The redesign of the playgrounds in the reed area in Oberrodenbach and in the southern ring in Niederrodenbach was also discussed. A total of four new playgrounds were built in the new development area on Adolf-Reichwein-Straße, which are well equipped for different age groups. These measures reinforce the SPD parliamentary group's ambition to further develop Rodenbach as a family-friendly and attractive community.

The completion of the green axis in the new development area is also considered important, even if marketing the area would have been possible. The focus is on your own quality of stay, which speaks for a good hand in planning.

According to a current publication by the Mobility Forum, cycling in small and large cities is a central building block for a sustainable transport transition. In recent years, numerous local governments have hired cycling representatives and are increasingly focusing on company bike-friendly concepts. These measures help to promote cycling and represent an active contribution to climate protection states the Mobility Forum.

The SPD parliamentary group in Rodenbach has big plans and shows that local politics can sustainably improve the lives of citizens through active projects. After all, a community not only lives from its infrastructure, but also from the quality of life it offers.
