Bad Homburg shines: road construction in Ober-Erlenbach successfully completed!
There is reason to be happy in Bad Homburg: After 13 months of intensive construction work, the road construction projects in Nieder-Erlenbacher Weg and the first section of Vilbeler Straße have now been successfully completed. The total costs for the measures amount to around 1.6 million euros. This extensive work not only improves the transport infrastructure in Ober-Erlenbach, it also ensures a significantly higher quality of life for the residents.
The construction work included the dismantling of temporary asphalt surfaces and the redesign of the streets in Nieder-Erlenbacher Weg. Around 1,800 m² of asphalt surfaces and 3,700 m² of paving were newly laid, supported by the renewal of around 2,200 meters of curbs and 960 meters of gutters. The supply and disposal lines were also laid during the preliminary expansion, paving the way for future infrastructure projects.
Security aspects and accessibility
The installation of new street gullies and the connection to existing canals is particularly important. To increase traffic safety, street lighting was expanded. Vilbeler Straße received extensive ceiling renovation between Kleine Brückenstraße and “Am Hühnerstein”. Pedestrians benefit from several crossing points that are equipped with tactile elements and thus increase safety.
Another advance is the modern bus stops, which have been equipped with bus boards and a guidance system for the blind. The stop in the direction of the city center also has a waiting hall with a green roof, which further contributes to the aesthetic cityscape. The sidewalks were also redesigned and partially widened, creating barrier-free access.
Fiber optic expansion in Ober-Erlenbach
While the road work is being successfully completed, the expansion of fiber optic connections in Bad Homburg is also being pushed forward. This step follows the pre-marketing of the Dornholzhausen pilot cluster and now also includes the Ober-Erlenbach district. The expansion, which is being carried out without funding and at no cost to the city, offers more than 2,600 households in Ober-Erlenbach the opportunity to have fast internet access gvg-glasfarben.de reported.
So far, a total of 33,000 residential units in Bad Homburg have the chance of a fiber optic connection. The aim is to expand across the entire city – an important goal that the federal government has also anchored in its coalition agreement. A newly introduced acceleration law is intended to speed up the approval process for line construction and make it easier to develop areas without service, such as Federal Government emphasized.
Mayor Alexander Hetjes is grateful for the patience and support of the residents during the construction work and is pleased about the progress in terms of both the infrastructure and the digital connection. The beautification and modernization of Bad Homburg is now entering the next round - for the benefit of the citizens and urban development.
