Classic car rally in the Main-Taunus district: A success for a good cause!
A whole weekend dedicated to classic automobiles – that’s what the “Main-Taunus Klassik” vintage car rally promises, which took place on September 9, 2025 under a bright blue sky. Around 130 nostalgic vehicles rolled through the idyllic landscapes of the Main-Taunus district and beyond. The event, which took place for the twelfth time this year, attracted not only car fans but also numerous spectators to the track.
The parking lot at the supermarkets on Hattersheimer Straße in Kriftel was one of the stopping points where interested visitors could marvel at the impressive and colorful fleet of vehicles between 10:10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. It started from the district office in Hofheim at 10:01 a.m., with the finish at around 2:10 p.m. at the Konrad Adenauer School in Kriftel. District Administrator Michael Cyriax informed the participants and spectators about the rally and its good cause.
A journey with heart
The proceeds from the event go to the Main-Taunus Foundation, which takes care of people in need through no fault of their own in an unbureaucratic manner. This social responsibility makes the rally a traditional ride that combines not only automotive enthusiasm, but also a large portion of humanity. Many sponsors such as Taunus Sparkasse and Autopflege Kunic supported this heartfelt project.
The participants not only had fun during the trip, but also had to complete various tasks that further fueled their ambition. The list of winners has some notable achievements: Dirk and Dagmar Engelhardt secured first place with their Triumph Spitfire 1500 from 1977. Christian Koeper and Ev. Weissmann-Koeper came in second place with their VW Golf I Cabriolet (1992), followed by Daniel and Lina Helfrich and Jacqueline Weigelt in a Mercedes Benz E 200 W 124 from 1994.
Special vehicles and participants
Among the 130 vehicles, a few special units stand out. The most creative vehicle, a Willys MB Jeep from 1943, was driven by Manfred Liebold, who has been taking part in the rally for ten years. To underline the historical character of this Jeep, the driver and passenger wore matching outfits - a successful homage to the history of the vehicle, which took part in the landing in Provence in 1944.
A very special moment was captured by the youngest participant in the rally. Five and a half month old Ida Babachev accompanied her parents as a passenger. This reflects the family and intergenerational spirit that characterizes the event.
Union also has a deep connection with Lebenshilfe Gießen e.V.: This organization has been committed to people with disabilities for over 31 years and looks after more than 3,000 people. Thanks to this unifying campaign, even the smallest and weakest members of society are able to get into the fast lane.
The classic car fundraising campaign runs until January 20, 2026, when the winners will then be chosen. The event is a great opportunity to combine a love of classic vehicles with a social commitment - a perfect fusion that gives the whole event a very special appeal. A big thank you goes out to all participants and donors who made this possible! Lebenshilfe Giessen e.V. and Main-Taunus district have put a lot of effort into this.
