A new wind at TSV Speyer: Andres Rüb becomes managing director!
A significant turnaround is imminent at TSV Speyer 1847 e.V. On July 1, 2025, Andres Rüb will take over the position of full-time managing director and club manager. Rüb succeeds Andreas Kochner, who played an important role in a difficult transition phase for the club. The decision for the 38-year-old was made by those responsible for the club, chaired by Angelika Wöhlert, and several applicants who applied for this position.
Rüb, who was born in Aachen and grew up in Speyer, has been actively involved in the club's handball department over the years. With his family - his sports-loving wife and three children - sport is an integral part of their lives, while Rüb also holds positions in the Rheinhessen-Pfalz handball association. He has been living in Speyer again since 2014, after previously spending some time in Hofheim am Taunus.
New momentum in club management
With his in-depth training in architecture, which he acquired at the University of Stuttgart, Rüb brings valuable experience in project planning, scheduling and cost control. He would now like to bring these skills into the administrative work of the association. Rüb emphasizes that although he is starting out as a career changer, he sees optimal conditions to quickly learn the ropes and help shape club life in a positive way.
The vision that Rüb has for his new role is clear. He would like to be a permanent contact person for the departments and members and, in particular, to strengthen the club's identity and sense of community. Through his years of volunteer work, he has already developed a deep understanding of the needs of the club members. This should help him to successfully overcome challenges in everyday club life.
Volunteering in focus
Rüb's involvement in TSV Speyer fits seamlessly into a broader discussion about the topic of volunteerism in sport. Systematic volunteer management is crucial to increasing the attractiveness of volunteer work. According to the guidelines of the “life cycle of voluntary commitment”, all steps from initial interest through entry to commitment and development of the area of activity should be carefully monitored - a challenge in which Rüb would like to actively participate. After all, commitment-friendly organizational culture is the basis for the success of every club.
With the new main office, TSV Speyer has taken a courageous step into a dynamic future. Andres Rüb promises to go to work full of enthusiasm and with a clear goal in mind. Members can look forward to what the coming months will bring.
Weekly newspaper reporter reports that the challenges that the club had to overcome in the past can now be tackled with a breath of fresh air and new ideas.
