Business reception in Bensheim: Strong signal for the region!

Last Wednesday the annual Bergstrasse business reception took place in the rooms of the Sparkasse Bensheim. Around 170 guests, including entrepreneurs, representatives of public institutions and interested parties, listened to Kathrin German's exciting lectures and musical entertainment. The event was organized by the Bergstraße Economic Development GmbH (WFB) under the direction of Dr. Matthias Zurker.

The event was opened by Mayor Christine Klein and Johannes Erich Schulz, Chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Bensheim. A special highlight was the keynote speech by the guest of honor, State Minister Kaweh Mansoori from the Hessian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Areas. Mansoori spoke about the current economic policy in Hesse and the challenges that companies have to face in uncertain times.

Challenges and opportunities

In his speech, Mansoori emphasized Hesse's economic strength, which must be maintained despite current difficulties. Topics such as reducing bureaucracy and improving locations were also addressed. District Administrator Christian Engelhardt emphasized how important it is to create planning scope so that companies can develop.

With a view to the future economic landscape in Hesse, the role of the savings banks as stable partners for companies was also emphasized. It became clear that sustainable business and investments in education, digitalization and innovation are essential pillars for the region's prosperity.

Networking and exchange

After the official part of the evening, the participants had the opportunity to chat over finger food, grilled specialties and a glass of Bergstrasse wine. The business reception offers an important platform for contacts and impulses that are intended to advance the region.

In the context of funding activities in Hesse, the Hessenfonds is emerging as a central instrument for supporting companies. With a volume of 1 billion euros, this fund will play a key role in helping companies adapt to new challenges. Prime Minister Boris Rhein emphasizes the need to ensure unbureaucratic and efficient applications for funding. This not only includes financial aid for conversion and digitalization, but also long-term support for innovations, such as the future-oriented digital infrastructure offerings in rural areas, which are to be supported with 300 million euros for fiber optic expansion in 2024.

Economics Minister Mansoori further explains that in the coming years companies will be confronted with high energy costs, bureaucratic burdens, technological change and a shortage of skilled workers. In order to meet these challenges, the Hessenfonds will enable significant investments in research, development and innovative solutions.
