Wetteraukreis traffic police: More than 10,000 people sensitized to safety!

In 2025, the Wetteraukreis traffic police achieved a remarkable result: over 10,000 people were reached with important information about traffic safety. The traffic watchdog was active in several cities with a wide range of activities, ranging from parents' evenings to action days in daycare centers and road safety campaigns in vocational schools. Friedberg, Bad Nauheim and Büdingen were just some of the places that benefited from the initiatives. Particularly noteworthy are the events at the Hessentag in Bad Vilbel, which represented a central part of the program, such as FNP reports.

A key topic for the traffic watchdog last year was safe cycling, which is important for young and old alike. Practical instructions were offered for this purpose, which included, among other things, the use of modern aids such as VR glasses and noise glasses. Reaction tests and vision tests were also part of the portfolio. In addition to safety when cycling, the “safe route to school” was also promoted. This was done with the help of “No Parent Taxi” banners that were put up in various cities and towns.

A new pavilion for the traffic police

Thanks to the generous support of the Sparkassenstiftung Oberhessen, the traffic police were able to purchase a new mobile pavilion, which is used as an information stand at public events. District Administrator Jan Weckler and Sparkasse boss Frank Dehnke presented an amount of 3,000 euros. The pavilion will be a highlight, especially at the Hessentag 2025 in Bad Vilbel. Activities such as a bicycle and e-scooter course as well as various safety simulators are planned there. Students from the John F. Kennedy School in Bad Vilbel will support the team, which underlines the importance of education and commitment Savings Bank reported.

The second chairwoman of the traffic watchdog, Christa Reichert, and treasurer Heinz Euler emphasize how important the new pavilion is for presenting their activities. Thanks to the financial support of the Sparkasse Foundation and the committed work of the 35 active members between the ages of 13 and 80, the traffic police will continue to play an important role in traffic safety in the region.

Social responsibility and road safety

Increasing road safety is not only a concern of local initiatives, but also a central goal of the federal government. In 2024, 2,770 people died in road traffic accidents in Germany, which represents a decrease compared to the previous year. The goal of the “Vision Zero” of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMV) is to have no deaths in road traffic, which is what the Federal Government actively supported with various programs and an annual grant of around 15 million euros.

Society is called upon to make joint efforts to further improve road safety. The “Pact for Road Safety” and the Federal Government’s road safety program for 2021 to 2030 show that this effort can only be successful together.

Finally, it should be noted that the Wetteraukreis traffic police play a central role in traffic education. With a variety of measures and the support of committed citizens and institutions, we are well prepared to continue making a valuable contribution to road safety in the future.
