Karben gets a new chess club: SC Mattmeister inspires children!
Something is happening in the chess world in Karben! The newly founded SC Mattmeister Karben in 1998 has made it its mission to introduce children and young people to the sport of chess. The club, founded by Simon Claus, the vice-principal of the Kurt Schumacher School, offers a great platform for aspiring chess players. With a clear focus on children's and youth chess, the club wants to promote talent while at the same time making the game fun. [Giessener Allgemeine](https://www.giessener- Allgemeine.de/wetterau/karben-ort82108/mattmeister-ankommen-94010442.html) reports on the promising beginnings of the club, which emerged from the chess club of the Kurt Schumacher School.
The chess group, which works closely with the SC Mattmeister, has around 40 committed students. Not only is training done here, but team spirit is also encouraged. On Mondays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. the school plays hard, under the guidance of Claus, who has over 30 years of experience in chess and has already shone as a German champion comprehensive school teacher.
Tournaments and achievements
The SC Mattmeister is not just a meeting place for chess enthusiasts. The club actively participates in regional and national tournaments and has already achieved remarkable success: the WK Oberschule team was able to secure the title of Hesse champions last year. That speaks volumes about the quality and commitment that goes on here.
In addition, the club organizes the German School Chess Championship every year, which is a great opportunity for Karben and the surrounding regions to compete and make contacts.
Quality and distinction
In order to recognize the excellent work in the children's and youth sector, the German Chess Youth has introduced a quality seal that honors the best chess clubs for their achievements in the youth sector. Criteria such as rooms suitable for young people, systematic talent promotion and the integration of young people into club life are of great importance. The quality seal, which is awarded for three years, is intended to help clubs continually improve their standards Deutsche Schachjugend.
The special thing about SC Mattmeister is that it works exactly according to these high standards. Simon Claus and his team strive to promote young talent in the best possible way and to create an appealing environment for all age groups.
Looking ahead
The club is open to anyone interested in chess. Anyone who would like to get to know the chess club or simply play a few games is welcome to come to the game evening on Mondays.
