VfB Marburg is aiming for an important win against weakening Türk Gücü!
On Saturday, September 27th, VfB Marburg will face Türk Gücü Friedberg in an important Hessenliga game that kicks off at 3 p.m. Marburg would like to move further away from the relegation zone with a win and carry their good form from the district cup into the league. There the team was able to assert itself against Sportfreunde Blau-Gelb in the penalty shootout, showing fighting spirit and strong nerves.
While Marburgers are in a solid 10th place, FC Türk Gücü Friedberg is in a critical situation. After nine games, the team is only in 13th position and has only collected nine points so far. Most recently, the Friedbergers suffered two significant defeats: against Eintracht Stadtallendorf (1:2) and a painful 0:4 defeat against KSV Baunatal. However, there was also a ray of hope on the last matchday when they defeated league leaders FC Eddersheim 3-2.
Friedberg's coach under pressure
Coach Maik Vetter is under pressure to improve his team's performance. He has already made it clear that he expects a stronger mentality and attitude from his players. “Above all, we have to take responsibility in the attack and become more efficient in front of the goal,” says Vetter. The coach is dissatisfied with the current record of only eight goals scored in nine games and sees the need to correct the mistakes that have led to many goals conceded.
In the last few encounters, weaknesses in the defense have become apparent, which has led Vetter to criticize himself. “The opponents exploit our simple mistakes mercilessly,” he points out. At the same time, he plans to use some of his key players in a targeted manner to provide fresh impetus and promote the quality of the team.
Marburg's coach relies on his own strengths
VfB Marburg's coach Kevin Kaguah has other worries. He is aware of the opponent's strengths and firmly believes that Friedberg will not end up slipping into the relegation zone because the team has a lot of quality. "But the focus is entirely on our own performance. If we play our game, I'm confident that we can win," explains Kaguah. With the exception of Hendrik Mittelstädt, who has been injured for a long time, all players are ready for action. Only Del-Angelo Williams is struggling with an irritated Achilles tendon and his use remains questionable.
Hendrik Starostzik, on the other hand, should be back on the pitch after a short break in the district cup, which is due to targeted load management. The team will do everything in its power to take the important points from Friedberg and increase the gap to the relegation zone.
Whether the hopes of both coaches will be fulfilled will be seen on Saturday in Friedberg. The starting position could hardly be more exciting and the fans can look forward to a thrilling duel.
