Türk Gücü Friedberg: Dreams of advancement and volunteers pitch in!
The football world in Friedberg is upside down! Türk Gücü Friedberg has experienced a rapid rise in recent years that has exceeded the expectations of everyone involved. In the summer of 2022, the club moved to its new home on Burgfeld after moving from Ober-Rosbach. This step not only promoted sporting successes, but also strengthened the club's identity and contributed to the development of a committed community. How FNP reported, the players took part in the Hessen Cup final last year and also made it into the promotion round to the regional league - in front of over 1000 spectators!
The club's board, represented by Fatih Kaplan and the sporting director Metehan Karadavut, did a lot to overcome the challenges of the past season. Although the disappointment over the defeat against Balingen was great, the euphoria after the surprising win against Kaiserslautern outweighs the disappointment. This support comes not only from the loyal fans, but also from around 40 to 50 volunteers who help out at every home game.
Successful youth work and strong community
Another success factor is the increased cooperation with FSV Dorheim and Blau-Gelb Friedberg, which contributes to the formation of a youth game community. The goals for the upcoming season are ambitious: Türk Gücü wants to be in the top three of the Hessenliga. This is not only supported by relegated teams such as Eintracht Frankfurt U21 and FC Gießen, but also by a committed focus on youth. Karadavut has been active in the club since his youth and has continuously worked his way up, which is why the youth department has flourished under his and Kaplan's leadership since 2012.
Despite the successes, the challenge of convincing experienced players is still present. The club management is planning gradual changes to the squad in order to make the team fit for the upcoming tasks. The team features well-known faces such as Julian Dudda, Maik Vetter and Noah Michel, who ensure a strong presence in the Hessenliga. Thanks to FSV Fernwald not wanting to be promoted, Türk Gücü is allowed to take part in the promotion games, which further boosts their hopes.
The dream regional league
“A promotion would be nice!” says Kaplan optimistically, although the Burgfeld location is not yet fully suitable for the regional league. A move for some games could become necessary, with the Bornheimer Hang in Frankfurt being discussed as a possible alternative location. An increasing identification with the club is currently shaping the mood in Friedberg. This is particularly noticeable through the growing TGF community, which has plans for a meet & greet with the team and is actively involved in the club's work.
However, the challenges cannot be underestimated Deutschlandfunk highlights: Despite record increases in membership in many German sports clubs, volunteers are often overloaded and need to find more support. Türk Gücü Friedberg is no exception and must constantly work to attract and retain new volunteers in order to keep the community as strong as it is.
With all these exciting developments, it remains to be seen how the coming season will pan out. A common goal brings us together: The dream of the regional league is within reach, but requires enormous effort and the commitment of everyone involved. Friedberg is ready, and Türk Gücü is ready to take on the new challenge!
