Dorheim celebrates 1250 years: New chronicle reveals exciting stories!

In the heart of the Wetterau, the Gallic village of Dorheim is celebrating a very special anniversary this year: the Friedberg district is 1,250 years old. This important event is celebrated with an extensive local chronicle written by Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rack, mayor of Dorheim and committed historian, recently published. The chronicle entitled “Dorheim 775-2025” offers a deep insight into the history of the place and shows how Dorheim has developed over the centuries. Loud FNP The work comprises a total of 360 pages, of which the last 150 are dedicated to the last 25 years.

However, the Chronicle is more than just a collection of facts. It also contains personal impressions and critical assessments of historical events that shaped life in Dorheim. Dr. Rack notes that significant events such as the cultivation of wine in 1393 and the introduction of the Reformation in 1550 are covered. The stormy history of the Thirty Years' War is also discussed. As Rack humorously notes, anecdotes such as the “Dorheim staircase joke” are also part of the book. This makes the chronicle not only informative, but also entertaining.

Festival preparations and anniversary events

The anniversary celebration will be celebrated as part of a village festival from June 27th to 29th, which the entire Dorheim community is looking forward to. Dr. Rack, who is also chairman of the festival committee, will shed light on the history of Dorheim and report on the current status of festival preparations in a lecture on Thursday, February 20th at 8 p.m. in the Klosterbau Library Center. The invitation from the historical society also mentions the first documented mention of Dorheim in 775, when the donors Rechilt and Eufemia, daughters of Count Cancor, made their donation to the Lorsch monastery. This is a pivotal moment in the history of the district, like FR reported.

Rack has not only processed the chronicle historically, but also provides insights into the community's modern challenges, for example the long discussion about the bypass. This was not originally included in the federal government's investment program, but was finally built after Rack approached the President of the State Parliament, Norbert Kartmann.

A fun anniversary

The book “Dorheim 775-2025” was published by the Bindernagel bookstore and is available for 20 euros, both in the Friedberg branch and during the anniversary. Featuring numerous photos, it invites readers to understand Dorheim's eventful history and to experience the development of the place up close.

In addition to the celebrations, the Friedberg Historical Society will also organize various shuttle and day trips. For example, a trip to East Hesse and a four-day trip to the Bavarian Swabia region are on the program, as shown on friedberger-geschichtsverein.de is to be read. These events underline the liveliness of the village community and the passion for history, which is very popular in Dorheim.
