Butzbach celebrates the 704th Katharinenmarkt: fun and free rides for everyone!

On October 26, 2025, the 704th Katharinenmarkt was ceremoniously opened in Butzbach, Wetteraukreis. In weather that was surprisingly dry compared to the weather forecast, Mayor Sascha Huber gave the opening speech without an umbrella and welcomed the visitors with a warm greeting. A delegation from the Czech twin town of Teplá was also present, led by Mayor Karel Hermann, to whom Huber presented free ride chips for the rides. The celebration was accompanied by an ecumenical service led by several pastors from the region's communities.

The big attractions of the market, which takes place from October 25th to 28th, are the huge “X-Factor” swing, the “Flying Swing” carousel, a colorful bumper car and various children’s rides, which have already attracted many young and old visitors. The culinary offerings range from sweet cotton candy to savory Dutch fries, which exude a very special atmosphere thanks to their smell.

Opening times and variety of programs

The Katharinenmarkt is open on the following days:

  • Samstag, 25. Oktober: 11:00 bis 22:00 Uhr
  • Sonntag, 26. Oktober: 11:00 bis 21:00 Uhr
  • Montag, 27. Oktober: 11:00 bis 21:00 Uhr
  • Dienstag, 28. Oktober: 11:00 bis 21:00 Uhr

There will be a Sunday shopping opening on October 26th from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and there will be a special behind-the-scenes tour on Monday, October 27th. This starts at 10:00 a.m. at the bumper car in the castle courtyard, although registration at the tourist information center is required.

On Tuesday, Family Day, visitors can expect reduced prices on all rides and toy items, which is an especially attractive offer for families. There are special parking options around the market square for residents, but visitors are asked to observe the parking and no-parking signs to ensure things run smoothly.

Special features of the market

The official opening of the Katharinenmarkt took place on Saturday, October 25th, with the traditional draft beer tapping and a concert by the Butzbach fire brigade band. Particularly noteworthy is the inclusion of local producers: a home-grown market takes place on Saturday and Tuesday, where fresh products are offered directly from the producer. The event not only offers a wide range of attractions and culinary delicacies, but also an intensive community experience in which togetherness is the focus.

Overall, the Butzbacher Katharinenmarkt is a colorful place of life that brings people together and invites them to linger. Whether in the market square or in the castle courtyard, there is something to discover everywhere!
