The German Weather Service (DWD) raises the alarm: On Saturday, June 14th, in Hesse, and especially in the Vogelsberg district, is counted with severe thunderstorms. These dangerous weather conditions could last until 10 p.m. and, in addition to the Vogelsberg district, also affect the Fulda district, the Main-Kinzig-Kreis and Hersfeld-Rotenburg. The DWD warns two out of four of four of four, in which lightning strikes, falling trees and falling objects threaten. Up to 40 liters of rain per square meter are expected, which increases the risk of flooding and aquaplaning.

On Saturday morning, a preliminary information was published by the DWD, which indicates the possibility of extreme storms. Hails with grain sizes of up to three centimeters and gusts of wind could be created up to 100 km/h. Even hurricane -like gusts with speeds of up to 110 km/h are not excluded. "There is something," said the DWD, whereby the exact train railway of the thunderstorms is still unclear. It is recommended to secure objects outdoors, to avoid the stay outdoors and to keep the distance between buildings, trees and high -voltage lines.

The weather conditions will remain tense until Sunday, because even then shower -like rain and strong thunderstorms can be expected. In the days before, temperatures of up to 35 degrees spoiled us, but now the weather is evident from a completely different side. The upcoming cold front not only brings fresh air, but also the risk of other storms in the coming days.

Current reports show that in the early term, isolated thunderstorms may occur in Southeast Bavaria, while in the medium term a weather calming from the northwest can be expected. The influence of high pressure increases, which means that the inconsistent weather situation could slowly relax after the coming days. The DWD will continue to keep an eye on the weather development and will publish another update on Monday, June 16 at 5:00 a.m.

in Hesse there are currently regions in which no warnings were issued. In particular, the districts of Main-Kinzig, Rheingau-Taunus, Bergstrasse as well as Darmstadt and Gießen seem to be spared for the time being.
