Speed camera week in the Main-Kinzig district: Attention, traffic safety in focus!

A series of speed controls will be running in the Main-Kinzig district in the 24th calendar week of 2025 (from June 9th to 15th). This measure serves to check compliance with speed limits, especially on dangerous routes and at known accident hotspots. Kinzig.news has published the exact locations and times of the controls.

Monday, June 9th, is all about the B 459 in Dreieich, where tests are carried out in the area of the Geisfeld roundabout. This location has emerged as an accident hotspot. On Tuesday, June 10th, the L 3268 in Hanau, specifically Maintaler Straße in the direction of Dörnigheim, will be examined - this is a well-known speeding route. In addition, the B 459 in Dreieich and the K 174 between Dietzenbach and Rodgau, where wild animals often cross the road, will also be checked on the same day.

Measurements planned until Sunday

The speed controls will continue on Wednesday, June 11th. The focus here is once again on the L 3268 in Hanau and the L 2310 between Mainflingen and Aschaffenburger Straße - here too, it is important to protect wild animals.

Thursday, June 12th, the L 3268 in Hanau will be in the spotlight again, while the BAB 66 motorway in the direction of Fulda, Bad Soden-Salmünster junction, will be checked for noise protection measures. On Friday there will be controls on the BAB 66, which will continue on the following two days, Saturday and Sunday.

Road safety in focus

But what is behind these measures? The background is not only compliance with speed limits, but also improving traffic safety and communication in dangerous areas. According to the Bußgeldkatalog, speeding is punished, although the fines can vary considerably depending on the severity of the violation.

  • Bußgelder innerorts:
    • Bis 10 km/h: 30 €
    • 11 – 15 km/h: 50 €
    • 16 – 20 km/h: 70 €
    • 21 – 25 km/h: 115 € (1 Punkt)
    • 26 – 30 km/h: 180 € (1 Monat Fahrverbot)
    • Über 70 km/h: 800 € (3 Monate Fahrverbot)
  • Bußgelder außerorts:
    • Bis 10 km/h: 20 €
    • 11 – 15 km/h: 40 €
    • 21 – 25 km/h: 100 € (1 Punkt)
    • Über 70 km/h: 700 € (3 Monate Fahrverbot)

Of course, it is often too expensive for affected drivers, and there is a tolerance limit for speed measurements: at speeds below 100 km/h it is 3 km/h, at higher speeds it is 3 percent of the measured speed. There are various methods for speed control, from speed traps to light barriers and induction loops to modern laser measuring devices. Even private speed monitoring is justified under certain conditions.

Things will remain exciting in the coming days - both for navigators and for everyone who travels on the streets of the Main-Kinzig district. Stay alert and always drive with foresight!
