Telephone scammers fail in Königstein – citizens show strength!

On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the police received several reports of attempted telephone fraud in Königstein. The fraudsters chose a perfidious strategy and posed as police officers in order to intimidate citizens and extort valuables or cash. Luckily, the people they called hung up immediately without responding to the scammers' brazen schemes. A total of six reports of attempted fraud were filed, although the police do not rule out that there were many more calls. On the positive side, there was no immediate damage or financial loss as a result of these incidents.

The police strongly point out that real officers never ask people to hand over valuables. Anyone who receives such suspicious calls should not hesitate and hang up immediately. Acting quickly could help many citizens avoid falling into the crosshairs of fraudsters. Telephone fraud is a widespread problem and particularly affects older people, who are often targeted. Various fraud schemes are cleverly used here, such as the grandchild trick or the shock call, which are characterized by clever conversation management. The Bavarian Police offers more information on this topic.

Vandalism and traffic accidents

In addition to the fraud cases, a case of vandalism in Neu-Anspach was also reported. A black Audi Q2 was vandalized between Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon. The passenger side of the vehicle had significant scratches, resulting in material damage amounting to several hundred euros. The police are now looking for witnesses who can provide information about this incident.

Another incident occurred on Tuesday when there was a traffic accident on the L3041 near Friedrichsdorf-Köppern. A 67-year-old woman overlooked a white VW while driving her Opel. The violent collision resulted in both vehicles being totaled, with property damage amounting to around 23,000 euros. The 62-year-old driver of the VW was slightly injured and was taken to hospital. In this context, the police urge you to be careful at confusing junctions and recommend that you always carefully observe the right-of-way regulations.

These incidents once again show how important it is to be vigilant and pay attention to your own safety. If you suspect fraud or other suspicious activity, you should not hesitate to contact the police. Sharing experiences with friends and family can also help protect others from such perfidious tricks.
