Investigations in Hesse: 65 objects searched for child pornography!

In Hesse, 65 apartments and houses were searched today, with 62 men and one woman between the ages of 14 and 70 being targeted by investigators. The allegations are serious: they involve the production, possession and distribution of child and youth pornography. In addition, there are allegations of sexual abuse of people under 18 in five cases. This information comes from a statement from the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) in Wiesbaden, which is coordinating the extensive operation.

The searches took place in cities such as Frankfurt, Giessen, Hanau, Offenbach and Wiesbaden, but also in several districts. Not to forget a house search in North Rhine-Westphalia, which was part of the large-scale investigation. A total of 764 data carriers, including cell phones, USB sticks and DVDs, were seized during the operations. The evaluation of these materials is now a top priority.

Sustained investigations

What is impressive is that 11 suspects have already been questioned in police stations. It is interesting to note that the suspects do not communicate with each other, which makes the investigation even more difficult. The authorities are working hard to find out the background and networks behind these shocking allegations.

The investigations show how seriously the LKA takes the protection of children and how far-reaching the measures are to combat such crimes. These developments should also be seen in the broader context of the ongoing efforts by large companies to combat child pornography. Yahoo reports on its comprehensive CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) detection and removal programs, which work through a combination of automated scanning and human review. Yahoo is committed to banning child pornography and reports all such cases to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Using advanced technologies such as PhotoDNA and CSAI Match, a database of known content is compared and experts review the automatically recognized images. These measures have helped save children and arrest suspects in the past, sometimes within hours of a report.

These efforts and current investigations highlight the need for a high level of commitment and collaboration in combating child crime. While the searches carried out in Hesse are alarming, they also show that the authorities are prepared to take decisive action against these heinous acts. It is hoped that such measures will not only help victims but also help prevent future crimes.
