Wiesbaden celebrates friendship: Big German-American festival!

The countdown has begun: From July 3rd to 7th, 2025 it will be “Stars and Stripes” again in Wiesbaden! On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the German-American Friendship Festival, the US residential area of Hainerberg is being transformed into a festival mile for all generations and cultures. Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and Colonel Troy Danderson, the commander of the US garrison, emphasize the great importance of this friendship, especially in difficult times. True to the motto “Together we are strong,” this year’s festival will be more than just a celebration – it is a symbol of German-American relations that have existed for over 300 years, starting with the founding of the “Germantown” settlement by German emigrants in 1683.

Every day from 12:00 p.m. to midnight, visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions. In addition to rides such as roller coasters and bumper cars, there are also culinary highlights that combine the best of both countries: from American corn dogs, hamburgers and American ice cream to German classics such as bratwurst and currywurst, there is something for everyone. The beer garden and the barbecue invite you to end the evening in good company. Live music and DJs will keep the atmosphere going, and the big July 4th fireworks display at 10:45 p.m. will certainly be the highlight of the celebrations.

Safe arrival to the festival

Getting there is somewhat difficult due to limited parking, which is why the organizers recommend visiting the festival on foot, by bike or by public transport. Access is via New York Street. There are also security measures such as bag checks and a ban on glass bottles, your own alcoholic drinks and large backpacks to ensure the safety of all participants.

Participation in this festival is not only interesting for the local population. Visitors from outside, such as Stuttgart and Kaiserslautern, are also warmly invited. The PXX parking lot, which is part of the US military base, will be open to the public. This creates a unique opportunity to experience these cultural bridges and get a good deal while doing it - be it enjoying the food or experiencing the attractions.

A story of friendship

German-American relations are deeply rooted. Even though they have been marked by crises in the past, such as the two world wars, they have been strengthened by numerous economic and cultural exchange programs. The Marshall Plan played a key role in rebuilding Germany after the Second World War and laid the foundation for a close partnership that continues to this day. In 2015, U.S. exports to Germany amounted to nearly $50 billion, while German exports to the U.S. reached approximately $124 billion. These economic interconnections provide a solid framework for the human relationships celebrated at the Friendship Festival.

The German-American Friendship Festival is more than just a celebration; it is a symbol of stability and ongoing exchange between two nations. Join us and celebrate friendship with us!
