Döring warns: SV Wehen face a tough nut to crack against Regensburg!

After the recent defeat against Duisburg, the SV Wehen Wiesbaden players are under pressure. The team lost 1:3, which really annoyed coach Nils Döring. He was critical of his team's restless and impatient style of play and called for more concentration and control over the game. So far this season, Wiesbaden has collected seven points from five games, which is not exactly outstanding compared to SSV Jahn Regensburg's four points. However, next Tuesday could provide some direction, because then Wiesbaden will play against Regensburg, who will be visiting on September 19th at 7 p.m.

Looking back to the past: Regensburg was the direct competitor in the relegation last year. There the team secured their stay in the 2nd Bundesliga after beating Wehen Wiesbaden 2-1 in the second leg. This memory is still in the back of the minds of the people of Wiesbaden, while the people of Regensburg had to experience a major upheaval this season. With many departures and new arrivals as well as a new coach, the situation is anything but easy for the Upper Palatinate team.

Regensburg’s aggressive style of play

Döring describes the upcoming opponent as an intense and aggressive team, full of talented individual players. The Wiesbaden team is up against a team that won't hide. Regensburg is already having a lot of trouble this season, as we know they only got four points from five games. However, caution is advised because the Regensburg team has the potential to be a dangerous challenger even against weak opponents.

SV Wehen Wiesbaden, on the other hand, has problems defensively and has already conceded ten goals, which underlines the uncertainty in the team. Only bottom team Aachen conceded more goals. But these statistics are not the only thing that gives coach Döring a headache: a dispute between striker Fatih Kaya and defender Jordy Gillekens after the game in Duisburg causes additional tension in the team. Veteran Sascha Mockenhaupt even reported heated discussions in the dressing room after the defeat.

Looking to the future

Despite the current difficulties, Döring has set himself high goals. He hopes his team will be wide awake in all phases of the game. “Good pressing moments and ball control are necessary to achieve our goal of climbing up the table,” emphasizes the coach. The disappointment of the last defeat must be dealt with, but we must quickly turn our attention to the next important game. The goal is clear: to do the homework both defensively and offensively and to get the first three-pointer of the season to take the pressure off your shoulders.

The competitive spirit has been awakened and people in Wiesbaden are hoping for a positive turnaround. SV Wehen Wiesbaden is facing a challenge, but with the right mindset the season could get a new impetus. The next game against Regensburg is coming up – a test of the character of the Wiesbaden team.
