Frankfurt welcomes EuroGames 2028: diversity, sport and solidarity!

Frankfurt am Main is facing a great challenge and also on an important stage: the city will host the EuroGames 2028. Over 4,000 sports-loving participants are expected in the Main metropolis when the sporting event takes place from July 13th to 16th, 2028. This means that the EuroGames, which were last held in Hesse in 1995, are returning to their original location after 33 years. The event is organized by the European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation (EGLSF), which also expressed a heartfelt thank you for the trust in the city in its announcement.

The EuroGames stand for both sporting competition and democratic values, with the main focus on sport, diversity and cohesion. Mayor Mike Josef (SPD) expressed his delight at the decision and saw the event as an invitation to queer and non-queer people to show solidarity together. The event is not only a platform for sporting achievements, but also a commitment to an open society.

A rich program

A total of 20 different disciplines are offered, covering a wide spectrum. Including sports like:

  • Bogenschießen
  • Basketball
  • Hockey
  • Badminton
  • Darts
  • Boxen
  • Fußball

The event promises to be an unforgettable experience, complemented by a publicly accessible accompanying program centered around the Roman. This will include sporting offerings, cultural activities and workshops that underline the spirit of the event and promote community.

A special highlight in his scheduling is the connection with Christopher Street Day (CSD) 2028, which further focuses on the celebration and cohesion of the queer community. With this combination, Frankfurt will once again become a meeting place for everyone who wants to stand up for diversity and equality.

A step into the future

The EuroGames have been held regularly since they were founded in 1992 and are very popular. The next EuroGames will take place in Cardiff in 2027, before the torch is passed on to Frankfurt. This gives the city the opportunity to optimally prepare for the event and create an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

The anticipation in the city is already palpable as planning and preparations are in full swing. It will be exciting to see how this diverse event brings all generations together and promotes togetherness. The EuroGames 2028 is more than just a sporting event - it is a celebration of diversity and a sign of solidarity.
