Experience anticipation: Advent calendar exhibition opens in Michelstadt!
In Michelstadt it's all about looking forward to the upcoming holidays. From November 1st to January 11th, the city museum is showing the fascinating exhibition “Anticipation. Advent Calendar in Europe”. This exciting show offers a look at around 200 exhibits from the collection of the Museum of European Cultures in Berlin and is therefore a real first for Hesse. ODW Journal reports that visitors can immerse themselves in the development of Advent calendars - from the “leaves for the Advent tree” to the oldest printed Christmas calendar from 1904 and modern variants that reinterpret the tradition.
The exhibition's special treats include the “Tear-Off Advent” from 1989 and a contemporary Ramadan calendar. These diverse exhibits not only showcase the development of calendars, but also demonstrate the cultural diversity associated with these special parts of Advent. The exhibition takes place as part of the federal program of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and therefore offers a valuable contribution to cultural education.
