A lot is happening in Michelstadt! The city benefits from the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction’s “Sustainable City Centers and Centers” funding program, which runs until the end of the year. How Michelstadt report, the first changes in the city center are already visible. In order to present the diverse measures, the seventh and final inner city forum took place in the town hall on September 16, 2025. Mayor Dr. Tobias Robischon drew a positive conclusion and cited the newly created seating options as well as the e-bike charging stations, the new shops and the renovated facades as successes of the program.

Michelstadt will now apply for the new state funding program “Future Inner City”. Important topics were also addressed at the forum: There were ideas for revitalizing the city center, including by improving the networking between event organizers, restaurants and retailers. The aim is also to attract classic frequency generators, such as bakeries or butchers.

Marketing also plays a major role in making the city even more attractive. The forum discussed how historic cities and cultural offerings can be better used to attract more people to the city center. Significant attention was also paid to digitalization. Digital visibility and social media networking strategies for retailers are being developed to better promote local business.

A highlight of the current measures is the “Most Beautiful Michelstadt Moment” photo competition, which has already been announced and is generating a lot of enthusiasm. Participants can win attractive prizes and thus show a personal connection to the city.

The measures implemented in recent years cannot be neglected: around 60 projects have already been funded, including the facade program, disposal funds and the “MichelStart vacancy funding”. These projects not only result in structural changes, but also in new planting and the opening of new shops and restaurants. Around 40 of these measures involve long-term visible renovations. The results of these projects can be viewed on a digital map “Michelstadt Milestones” available at Rheinmain Publishing is provided.
