The district championships for youth fire departments in our region have finally taken place again, but with mixed feelings: only seven of 32 youth fire departments took part in the competition. Teams made up of five members of the youth fire department and an adult who acts as a machinist compete against each other. Another highlight is the group relay, which requires skill and speed. Among other things, knots have to be tied and hoses coupled. The 5x80 meter fire brigade relay, which contains various obstacles and is completed in timed mode, also provides excitement and a challenge. Each team consists of five members and has to complete firefighting tasks. KFV-LDS explains that the teams must prove that they are regular members of the youth fire brigade on the day of the competition.

The next major championships will take place in the future. Successful teams from the district championships qualify for the state championships, which will take place in 2018. This promises exciting higher level competition and possibly the chance to compete nationwide.
