SV Darmstadt 98 continues their winning streak with 4:2 against St. Gallen!

In the last test match of the training camp in Bad Wörishofen, SV Darmstadt 98 won 4-2 against FC St. Gallen. This was the fourth success in a row in the test match preparation for the Lilies, who were able to continue their unbeaten series. Coach Florian Kohfeldt's team appeared to be well positioned and strengthened for the upcoming second division season.

However, the game began with a shock for the Darmstadt team: In the 8th minute, Alessandro Vogt put FC St. Gallen in the lead with a precise shot. But the lilies were not discouraged. Just four minutes later, Luca Marseiler equalized when he put the ball into the net from the edge of the penalty area. Aleksandar Vukotic took the lead in the 15th minute from a corner from Marseiler, before Fraser Hornby converted a penalty he took himself in the 25th minute.

Spin and score

The Darmstadt team applied enormous pressure and Killian Corredor increased the score to 4-1 shortly before half-time. His shot into the net put a successful end to the first half. With the firm intention of maintaining control in the game, coach Kohfeldt changed two players at half-time and switched to a three-man chain. Marcel Schuhen took the place in goal, while Matej Maglica came on for Hiroki Akiyama.

However, the second round is challenging for the Darmstadt team. Although they had control of the game, they lacked the necessary pressure towards the opponent's goal. In the 84th minute, Jordi Quintillà scored the second goal for St. Gallen, but it was ultimately meaningless as SV Darmstadt won the game 4-2.

Preparations and outlook

The Lilies are now well prepared for their dress rehearsal on July 26th against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, a club from the Bundesliga. Darmstadt's second division season begins on August 2nd with a home game against VfL Bochum, who were recently relegated from the Bundesliga. The fan festival and the season opening are already scheduled for Wednesday at the Böllenfalltor, where fans can celebrate their team.

Overall, the results of the test games show that SV Darmstadt 98 has the necessary potential to be successful in the coming season. Hiroki Akiyama, who made his debut in the last game, and Bartosz Bialek, who was rested, give hope for a strong team performance.

With the clear announcement that preparations for the new season are in full swing, expectations for the Lilies remain high. The fans can already look forward to exciting games!
