Cleaning offensive in Frankfurt's subway: Hauptwache will soon shine anew!

Things will be busy in Frankfurt in the coming weeks, as the B levels of the important traffic stations Hauptwache and Konstablerwache will be extensively cleaned. These measures began today, July 12, 2025, and are expected to be completed by mid-August. The cleaning includes, for example, the floor surfaces, ceilings, walls, columns and furniture such as benches and showcases. In order not to disrupt passenger traffic, most of the work will be carried out at night FAZ reported.

The B levels are not only important for the subway and trams, but they also form gateways to the city center. The head of the traffic department, Wolfgang Siefert, emphasizes the importance of these stations for the city's quality of life and its trade and gastronomy. As part of the cleaning work, damage is also repaired, such as the renewal of natural stone elements in the entrance to the main guard station and the repair of defective stairs and glass elements on the parapets.

Extensive cleaning campaigns

The basic cleaning not only affects the Hauptwache and Konstablerwache stations, but also several other subway stations. These include Willy-Brandt-Platz, Eschenheimer Tor and Bornheim Mitte, among others VGF explained. In total, more than ten stations are being worked on to create a clean and inviting atmosphere for passengers.

Other measures are currently underway, such as basic cleaning in the Willy-Brandt-Platz station, which is part of a comprehensive redesign. The C levels will also be subjected to a thorough cleaning, while some ceiling elements will be repainted. Minor repairs to the main guard station have already started to improve the overall appearance.

Quality through professional services

Modern and environmentally friendly techniques are used as part of the cleaning work. Providers like RAHMER services stand for professional cleaning of means of transport, with the focus on hygienic cleanliness. Cleaning services can also be carried out at night if required, which is an advantage given the current work on the stations.

The city council has decided on investment cost subsidies for the VGF in order to renew technical systems and orientation systems in the stations. It is important to the city of Frankfurt that both tourists and locals can travel in a clean and attractive environment. Therefore, the correct care of furniture in the wards is very important.

The coming weeks will show how the city continues to focus on hygiene and cleanliness to increase driving pleasure for both commuters and travelers.
