The location on Max-Planck-Straße, in the immediate vicinity of Aldi and Lidl, is to be opened by early October 2025. The discussion about the new location was not easy because concerns about the environment and traffic were expressed. But for Mayor Jörg Rotter (CDU) the possible trade tax revenue that could bring the new restaurant with it, such as "https://www.op-online.de/region/roedermark/pilotprojekt-mit-magmack-mcdonald-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach-nach" Class = "Source_1"> op-online.de reported.

The franchise entrepreneur Hagen-Holger Apel, who already operates branches in Dieburg and Groß-Umstadt, has set itself the goal of realizing one of the most modern McDonald’s restaurants in Germany. The newly planned building is designed with a steel frame and insulated facade elements in an appealing green and brown. The operation will completely do without gas and relate green electricity, supplemented by a photovoltaic system on the roof. These measures are part of the increased demands on sustainability, which are more and more important in the catering trade.

sustainability in focus

In 2020,

As part of its sustainability strategy, McDonald’s Germany published an update that focuses on regionality and electromobility. CEO Holger Beeck emphasizes that despite the challenges of Corona pandemic, the sustainability goals are of great importance. This includes, among other things, the reduction of plastic and packaging materials, which is more current than ever in the catering. According to Statista

The new McDonald’s in Ober-Roden will come up with innovative equipment. In addition to four quick charging stations for electric cars, there will also be modern recycling stations. When ordering, you use digital terminals or the app, where service staff bring the dishes directly to the guests. The drive-in area is designed in such a way that it offers two lanes to equalize the traffic in front of the restaurant. In total, the location will offer space for 110 guests indoors and 80 outdoors, which also includes the creation of around 40 new jobs.

a pilot project with concerns

Despite all the advantages of the new location, there are also critical voices. Many citizens have environmental concerns and the additional traffic could disturb the residents. The litter could also be an issue that is primarily favored by the high advancement of to-go customers. So far, examinations have been carried out on possible duds from the Second World War before the start of construction, but so far there have been no dangerous finds.

Because one thing is clear: at a time when sustainability is not only a keyword, but also a decisive purchase criterion for many Germans, any new project, like that of McDonald’s in Ober-Roden, is closely examined. With the large number of new initiatives and strategies that the company is planning, one tries to meet both the demands of modern consumers and the expectations of a growing critical public. These developments are not only important for McDonald’s, but for the entire gastronomy.
