Adventure on two wheels: Dieburg fire brigade inspires with a bike tour!
The Honor and Retirement Department of the Dieburg Fire Department provided a sporting highlight last weekend: a two-day bicycle tour was announced. A total of 18 participants were able to gather at the fire station on Friday at 12 p.m. and set off. The route took the cyclists through idyllic towns such as Langstadt, Schaafheim and Großostheim and ended in the picturesque beer garden of Schönbusch Park.
After about two and a half hours, there was a longer break where the participants could fortify themselves with isotonic drinks. From there we went via Aschaffenburg and along the Main cycle path to Kleinostheim, where the first stage ended after around 40 kilometers at the “Zum Schwanen” hotel. The evening ended with a tasty meal and a cool drink – all in all, a successful first stage of the day.
On Saturday, after a hearty breakfast, we set off towards Seligenstadt. Here the participants had around two hours to explore the historic old town, the impressive monastery and the basilica. The return journey took them past the Opel test field, through Eppertshausen and Münster. At around 4 p.m. everyone returned to Dieburg happy and healthy after a total of 43 kilometers. The graduation took place in Fechenbach Park, where the Kolping family celebrated its 130th anniversary. The weather had finally improved and the mood was good.
With a good hand, the organizers of the tour, Michael Gondolf and Martin Knapp, planned and optimized everything in advance. Particularly noteworthy: There were no breakdowns, failures or accidents. Eight brave cyclists even managed the route without a Pedelec, purely using muscle power. They were supported by two “standby” drivers from the operations department, who took care of the luggage transport in the background.
