220 bikers brave the rain: Successful campaign for the Lauterbach animal shelter!
On Sunday, July 27th, more than 220 bikers gathered for what is now the eighth “Biker Excursion for Animals”, which started from the Lauterbach animal shelter. The excursion through the picturesque landscapes of the Vogelsberg was carefully planned with a distance of around 100 kilometers and was carried out without any major problems despite the changeable weather. oberhessen-live.de reports that the tour began at 1 p.m. after the starting signal from Klaus Groth, who was also responsible for organizing the event.
Klaus Groth wisely set up a large 100-man tent for the participating bikers as well as smaller tents on his “ranch” to offer the participants protection from the rain. The event was accompanied by Pastor Kießling, who wanted to support the safe journey of everyone involved with a prayer of thanks. The bikers were also made aware of the importance of self-protection and compliance with road traffic regulations, an important concern at such events.
Commitment to animal welfare
A highlight of the event was the donation handover, where Klaus Groth presented the Lauterbach animal shelter with an amount of 1,111 euros. Fuldaer Zeitung reports that Christina Scheer, treasurer of the Lauterbach Animal Welfare Association, expressed her great gratitude for this support. These donations are essential to cover the daily needs of the animals in the home, which currently houses 130 cats (including 100 kittens) and around 16 dogs.
The “Biker Excursion for Animals” is very popular and has already taken place for the sixth time. Despite Groth's consideration of possibly giving up the organization, inquiries have signaled that there is great interest in continuing. Every year, this event attracts numerous motorcycle enthusiasts who contribute to the welfare of the animals by taking part.
Cozy get-together
After a break of around 50 kilometers at a rest area where the participants could refresh themselves, they returned safely and dry. The return to the “ranch” took place around 4:30 p.m. Not only were trophies raffled off for participation, but also special trophies for the furthest journey, the oldest motorcycle (built in 1986) and the oldest participant, who was an impressive 81 years old.
The colorful supporting program also included free coffee and cake, while steaks and sausages were offered at reasonable prices - a culinary offering that strengthened the community among the bikers and encouraged good conversations.
With such a group of participants and the unshakable weatherproof spirit, it once again shows that the bikers not only have a soft spot for motorcycles, but also a big heart for animals. The “Biker Excursion for Animals” makes a valuable contribution to animal protection and will certainly be a complete success again next year.
