Leo celebrates: A festival for children that enchants Alsfeld!
There's a lot going on in Alsfeld at the moment! The second children's festival “Leo celebrates” transforms the city into a true celebration paradise. From June 28th to June 29th, 2025, many families flocked to the town hall forecourt and the adjacent park areas to take part in an exciting program. The festival is organized by the city of Alsfeld in collaboration with the retail association and the former tourist association “AlsAktiv”. Particularly exciting: The festival is one of ten stops on the nationwide Toggo tour, which gives the whole thing even more momentum. As oberhessische-zeitung.de reports, after the first day, Mayor Stephan Paule expressed his satisfaction with the high number of visitors and the positive feedback from participants and helpers.
A real highlight was the concert with over 200 kindergarten children raising their voices under the direction of musician Jürgen Litzka. The talented Litzka wrote a special song especially for the festival, which was well received not only by the young artists but also by the audience. The bands “Halb6” and “Bandsalad” also provided musical entertainment. The program had something to offer for every child: with sophisticated entertainment offerings from “Ikke Bouncy Castle” and “Ricky Sause” we managed to make the children's eyes shine.
A colorful participatory program
What would a children's festival be without participatory activities? In the city center there were numerous stands waiting for young visitors to take part. From a craftsmen's mile to a hydraulic construction site to Leo's farm, there were lots of exciting offers. A bobby car race and craft stalls were also part of the hustle and bustle. The festival also received support from district forester Tobias Behlen, who offered forest education activities for children. A special experience for the little guests was the Toggo cosmos, where they could meet life-like TV stars such as SpongeBob and the Paw Patrol. These attractions ensured that many families came by for unforgettable souvenir photos.
The city of Alsfeld's competition, which was offered as part of the festival, was also very popular. Participation was free and only required filling out a pass, which could then be handed in at the Tourist Center. The competition was open to all natural persons residing in Germany - without any hidden conditions and regardless of the purchase of goods or services. The event was very well received and will take place again next year. The organizers confirmed this and the positive response from the participants gives hope for an equally colorful continuation next year.
After a successful first day, it remains to be seen whether the number of visitors from the previous year could be reached. For the city of Alsfeld, the organizers and the many helpers, this success was a nice confirmation of their efforts. It will be exciting to see how the festival continues to grow and set new highlights in the coming year. If you don't want to miss the unique atmosphere and the great offers, you should put the date in your calendar now for next year!
