Bebra is planning mega projects: millions for family centers and eco-energy!
Bebra is facing exciting developments that are intended to sustainably improve not only the city's infrastructure, but also the living environment of its citizens. As the HNA reports, Mayor Stefan Knoche, who is currently 53 years old and has been married since 2003, is the only candidate for the mayoral election, which will take place on November 9, 2025. Under his leadership, the city is planning a record investment volume of over 20 million euros for 2025 in order to tackle numerous projects.
Although the city has ambitious plans, implementing all of the projects within a year is considered difficult. An important project is the new fire station for the core city fire department, the building applications for which are in preparation. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026. It is particularly pleasing that construction of the long-awaited family center in Göttingen Bogen has already begun. The concrete floor slab and the concrete parts have been completed, while the wooden components are currently being produced. Completion is expected in 2027 in order to significantly relieve the daycare supply situation.
New daycare center and renewable energies
In Solz, the construction of a new modular daycare center is also being planned and tenders are currently underway. In addition, the city is pushing forward a project to build photovoltaic systems between Breitenbach and Blankenheim in cooperation with the municipal utilities. The aim is to equip kindergartens and sports centers with renewable energy. This not only makes an important contribution to early childhood education, but also changes the energy supply to a more environmentally friendly approach.
In order to incorporate the ideas and needs of the population into the planning, Bebra has initiated future workshops for citizen participation. This is intended to provide a platform to work creatively and constructively on urban development. In the coming year, child and youth participation will also be encouraged, which shows that the city takes the voices of the youngest people seriously.
Renovation projects and politics
Another important topic is road construction, which is viewed as a generational project. The roads should be renovated more efficiently here. The locomotive shed is currently in focus as a large construction site that is affected by insolvency law. However, a solution to take over the project is still pending. In this context, Knoche emphasizes the importance of compromise and respectful dialogue in urban politics.
A commission from Wiesbaden is expected to meet in Bebra on November 10, 2025, which could decide whether the city will be included in a new urban development funding program. This could bring additional financial resources for important projects and further promote the city's development.
The citizens of Bebra can look forward to the coming months with excitement. The investments and projects clearly show that a good hand is being done here to increase the quality of life in the city.
