MINT trade fair in Witzenhausen: technology highlights for the whole family!

On Sunday, September 21, 2025, Witzenhausen will be the venue for the MINT trade fair, which is taking place for the twelfth time. For the third time, the event is taking place on the grounds of the vocational schools and the Johannisberg School. Free entry makes the trade fair particularly attractive for large crowds, who can experience the world of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT) up close. Between 3,000 and 4,000 enthusiastic visitors are expected.

The fair begins at 11 a.m. in the Copernicum of the vocational schools. The day will be ceremoniously opened by school principal Andreas Hilmes, Tobias Vogel and the Hessian Minister of Education Armin Schwarz. The fair places a particular focus on promoting young talent: students become active as exhibitors themselves and can thus demonstrate their presentation skills.

A colorful program for everyone

The MINT trade fair attracts over 60 exhibitors, including companies, clubs, research institutions, universities, colleges and schools. Visitors can look forward to exciting offers such as building a battery with lemons or a VR experience of a solar eclipse. The youngest visitors are also taken care of: At the same time, the open day for fourth graders is taking place in the Johannisberg School, which starts at 9.30 a.m. Here the children have the opportunity to get to know the teachers and get a first impression of the school.

The vocational schools will also present themselves at the Copernicum, with practical experiments and topics relating to climate change and energy. A highlight is Annika Isabelle Peter's lecture on the energy transition, which was awarded the 2025 Climate Prize. The school planetarium has also come up with something new: it offers shows from 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Reduced shortage of skilled workers through MINT funding

But the MINT trade fair is not just a fun event. It also pursues a higher goal: to awaken enthusiasm for MINT subjects among children and young people. Under the motto “MINT for everyone”, a regionally coordinated offer for MINT funding is to be created in the Werra-Meißner region. This attempts to counteract the shortage of skilled workers in technical and scientific areas due to demographic developments. This initiative is part of the diverse measures to secure and promote the MINT potential of talented students.

Visitors can obtain further information and the detailed trade fair plan directly on site. A visit to the MINT trade fair in Witzenhausen is definitely worth it and promises an educational day for young and old. For the organizers one thing is certain: the future is MINT!
