Dudenrode celebrates: New multi-generational space opened as a community project!
There is a celebration in Dudenrode! The newly designed multi-generational space was ceremonially handed over on September 22, 2025. This project shows once again how community and ambition can go hand in hand. The square, which now functions as a central meeting point for the village community, was realized with a budget of 381,000 euros. That's a real bargain: the expenses were almost 4,000 euros below the estimated budget. In times when many construction projects exceed budget limits, Dudenrode sets a good example with his efficient planning and implementation Werra-Rundschau reports.
The merits of the villagers were particularly in the foreground. District Administrator Nicole Rathgeber acknowledged their commitment and emphasized how important such community projects are for the village. First city councilor Andrea Stöber was also pleased to note that it is not often that public investments remain below the planned budget. It's a real reason to celebrate!
A place for all generations
The new multi-generational square serves as a true village center. Not only do meetings and events take place here, but the place is also an ideal starting and finishing point for hikers. The space is equipped with a small kitchen and a covered patio with tables and benches that invite you to linger. Mayor Rainer Hennemuth and city councilor Mario Ziegler thanked everyone involved for their support and valuable work on the project.
So what do other villages that pursue similar goals do? You can be inspired by the successes in Dudenrode. In accordance with the framework conditions of the Lower Saxony village renewal program, grants are an excellent opportunity to finance such projects. According to the specifications of Niedersachsen.de, a maximum of 30,000 euros in grants can be provided per village region. This not only enables renovations, but also the creation of community facilities.
Funding opportunities are emerging
The funding aims to design village squares, paths and streets, as well as to create and maintain public services. With the new square, creative citizens of Dudenrode will receive a valuable infrastructure that will both strengthen social cohesion and act as a cultural hub.
The multi-generational space in Dudenrode is therefore not only a place of community, but also a role model for other communities. It's clear that there is a lot of joy and cohesion there - a place where you can easily maintain good neighbors. Nicole Rathgeber’s call will also be remembered: “Let’s work together to keep our villages alive!” This message is of great value for all communities in Hesse that are involved in village development initiatives.
