A perfidious scam is causing a stir in the Werra-Meißner district. A 48-year-old became a victim of criminal activity hidden behind the “fake bank employee” scam. On the same day, the 48-year-old received a call from an alleged Sparkasse IT employee who introduced himself as “Jonas Hoffmann”. The caller complained about strange bookings on the man's account that needed to be canceled. Believing that everything was correct, the injured party installed a remote control program on his PC and transmitted several transaction numbers (TAN).
