Swimming action in Vasbeck: Buschmann triumphs in the 24-hour race!
The popular 24-hour swim took place in the Vasbeck outdoor pool on July 15, 2025. 185 swimmers took part in the event, which has been organized extremely successfully for two decades. The outdoor swimming pool itself is already celebrating its 33rd anniversary, all supported on a voluntary basis by committed members of the community. A special highlight was the participation of Manfred Kißling from Waiblingen, who traveled over 400 kilometers for his 175th participation.
As with each of these events, the swim was open to all ages and participants were able to set their own personal goals without the challenge of swimming the full 24 hours. The DLRG Bad Arolsen took over supervision, so that the focus was on endurance and fun. All participants received certificates, while the best swimmers were rewarded with trophies for their podium finish.
Outstanding performance
The overall winner of the day was Martin Buschmann, who left the competition behind with an impressive 922 laps (46.1 kilometers). Particularly noteworthy is the success of Manfred Kießling, who was at the top of the podium in the senior ranking (55 years and older) with 414 laps (20.7 kilometers).
The results of the winners in the various categories show how broad the sporting ambition is in the community:

The event is not only a sporting competition, but also an event that strengthens the community and promotes the joy of sport. For 20 years, the 24-hour swim has thrilled not only the participants, but also numerous spectators who cheer on the athletes and support the club members.
The location of the outdoor pool in the picturesque surroundings of the Sauerland does the rest.
