The brave helpers reacted quickly and set a garden hose in motion to quickly bring the fire under control. This prevented the flames from spreading to neighboring properties. Before the fire brigade arrived, the construction workers also managed to pull the compressor from a trailer onto Wittener Strasse, which made the extinguishing work much easier.

The fire department arrived at the scene of the fire a short time later with three vehicles and twelve emergency services. Their main tasks were to carry out follow-up work and to clean up the large oil spill that had formed, as well as smaller oil stains on the road. To be on the safe side, the emergency services also checked the temperature of the compressor with a thermal imaging camera to ensure that there were no further dangers lurking.
