New stork mast in Ziegenhain: A place for nature conservation and learning!

Something is happening in Ziegenhain: A new stork mast with a nesting platform was inaugurated in the meadows, and that is not only a reason for joy for the storks. Students from the Schwalmstadt vocational school campus worked together with the Kulturlandschaft Schwalm e. V. and the city of Schwalmstadt launched this great initiative to once again provide a breeding ground for the white stork, which has been missing in the region for a long time. The project “On the Trail of the White Stork” was initiated by teachers Simon Krausmüller and Mario Bechtel and implemented as part of a project week to promote practical nature conservation.

The mast was ceremoniously erected on October 27, 2025, supported by Jörg Haafke and Alfred Kuhn. The nesting platform was constructed from natural materials, and the foundation work received active help from the municipal building department. At the inauguration, headmaster Ralf Klinder emphasized the great importance of this joint work - not only for the animals, but also for the children's awareness of nature conservation and ecological issues.

A new field of learning

The initiative sees more than just the storks as beneficiaries. It is planned that the mast will also serve as a learning place for the surrounding kindergartens and the Carl Bantzer School. An information board to be installed in the spring will provide further information. This impressively shows how vocational training, community involvement and nature conservation can go hand in hand.

In Ziegenhain, nature is given back a valuable place, and it's nice to see how the community works together. During future visits to the new stork mast, the littlest nature lovers can learn a lot of exciting things and at the same time observe the majestic birds that may soon move into their new home.

While Ziegenhain brings a breath of fresh air to nature conservation, we also look outside the box. If you're planning a trip to Bandung, you'll find a completely different kind of social gathering there - with pizza! This Italian dish is particularly popular in Indonesia and offers everything from crispy dough to a variety of toppings.

There are a number of recommended pizzerias, especially for rent, such as Emperano Pizza, known for its street food atmosphere and high quality. Those who like it cozy should try the Pizza Place, while fans of special taste experiences will get their money's worth at Ipizz da Nicolino with an Indonesian touch. And don’t forget – the pizza-tastic options offer a dining experience that’s great for gathering with friends.

Whether in Ziegenhain or in Bandung - it shows that nature conservation and culinary meeting places can harmonize wonderfully with each other. An awe-inspiring view of nature paired with delicious delicacies makes life a little bit more beautiful.
