Holzburger bookcase opens: A new reading paradise for everyone!
Reading has now become a bit easier in Holzburg: The Holzburg Beautification Association (VVH) recently celebrated the opening of its new bookcase with lots of conviviality. Numerous citizens, members of the local council and even mayor Daniel Helwig were present, who came together to honor this special event. Since 2021, considerations have revolved around a bookcase for the community, which finally took shape in the form of a decommissioned server cabinet on Helmut-Fröhlich-Platz after the original plan to convert a telephone booth could not be implemented. This comes from a report by HNA out.
The celebration was led by first chairman Uwe Riemenschneider, who also explained the numerous steps and challenges that led to the creation of the bookcase during the event. One of the first measures was the construction of a foundation by the local company Christopher Rosskopf. Another challenge was the required roof construction, which was undertaken by the talented craftsmen Hans Krähling and Ulrich Herrmann, who also designed the door system and the base of the cabinet. For their remarkable efforts, all three men received small thank you gifts from the club, which were particularly appreciated by Mayor Helwig.
Bookcase – A place for reading lovers
The new bookcase is not only intended to provide reading material for the Holzburgers, but also to create a meeting place. In the tradition of public bookcases, such as those found in large cities such as Berlin, the Holzburger variant offers a variety of media - from novels to children's books. The focus is on the sharing idea, which means that every reader can bring a book back after reading it or exchange it for another good book. Only care is taken to ensure that the books remain in a tidy condition and are equally pleasant for everyone to use. Initiatives from Berlin have recorded more about this in their concepts, such as the public bookcases, which place great value on a basis of trust and careful handling ( berlin.de ).
As part of the inauguration ceremony, a new flyer on the Holzburg nature and cultural trail was also presented. This path, which was launched in 2020, was realized thanks to the support of EU funds, association contributions and the municipality of Schrecksbach. Since no official inauguration could take place due to the pandemic, this moment was special. The community's support has a positive impact on the care and maintenance of the facility and shows how important such community projects are - something that Riemenschneider also emphasized when celebrating the bookcase. The new flyers are now being displayed at various tourism-relevant locations in the region.
All in all, the bookcase is not just a simple cupboard with books, but a symbol of the community and the voluntary commitment of the Holzburgers. With such initiatives, cultural life in the community gains color and promotes a sense of togetherness that one can be proud of.
