African sounds inspire in Ziegenhain Castle Church!

On Whit Monday, the Ziegenhain Castle Church shone with a colorful mix of melodies and cheerful rhythms. Around 270 visitors, not only from the church community, came together to watch the rousing performance African vocals from Namibia. The a cappella group is currently on a three-month tour of Germany and put everyone in a good mood with their African repertoire.

The group, consisting of eight singers aged 22 to 33, presented not only songs but also engaging choreography supported by powerful percussion. Already during their interim presentations, which were held in English, they brought smiles to the audience's faces with humorous comments - including about German beer. African vocals come from the townships of Swakopmund, where they spread an important message: as ambassadors for their homeland, they want to convey a positive image of Africa.

Tour with heart and commitment

The tour, which lasts from May 17th to July 6th, 2024, includes over 28 concerts throughout Germany. The group relies on donations and the support of the audience: part of the income goes to social projects in the townships of Swakopmund. The commitment ranges from founding a children's choir to aid projects that offer young people perspectives against poverty and violence. The initiative is supported by the German-Namibian Development Association, which accompanies the project and would like to further expand the cultural bridges between Germany and Namibia.

On their tour, the group not only offered concerts, but also workshops at schools, where they provided musical insights on the one hand and sought exchange with young people on the other. “It is important to us to share the cultural roots of our homeland,” explained a member of the group. The diverse songs of African Vocals address love, everyday life and life in the townships and are written in various ethnic languages of Namibia.

Welcoming atmosphere and warm support

The atmosphere in the castle church was lively and full of energy. After the performance, the singers were rewarded with great applause and the willingness to donate from those present was overwhelming. This shows once again how committed the people in the region are to the mission of the African vocals identify and support their commitment to a better future.
