But not everything is merry on the sidelines of ice hockey. There were riots at a preparatory game for EC Bad Nauheim, which took place on Tuesday evening in Bad Tölz. EC Bad Nauheim won the game 5-3, but the positive news was overshadowed by an “aggressive atmosphere” surrounding the event. Riots and investigations
The police initiated an investigation into nine EC Bad Nauheim fans for damage to property. These were identified based on witness statements. On the return journey to Bad Nauheim, the police stopped a vehicle with spray cans in the trunk, which further substantiated the investigation. During the game there were also clashes between supporters of EC Bad Nauheim and fans of SC Riessersee and Tölzer Löwen. The situation was described by police as “heated and aggressive” but was fortunately quickly calmed down. Before the game began, the Bad Tölz fans provoked the away block, which further fueled tensions. Ultimately, ten fans were expelled from the stadium during the game, mostly from the Tölzer Löwen camp.
The coming season promises to be exciting, both on and off the ice. While the fans can look forward to the new jerseys, the club management will certainly be keen to ensure that such incidents are avoided in the future. So let's see how the situation develops and whether EC Bad Nauheim continues to make a good name for itself both in sport and in fan culture.
