Festival of Sports: Experience action and diversity at Hessentag in Bad Vilbel!
The wait is over: from June 14th to 18th, 2025, Bad Vilbel will be all about sport. The Wetterau sports district has organized a jam-packed program for the big sports festival, which will take place in the picturesque castle park. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in the colorful world of sport and be inspired every day between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The festival offers a platform on which local sports clubs can present their diverse offerings. Jörg K. Wulf, the chairman of the Wetterau sports district, describes the vision behind this event: “We want to show people how diverse sport is in our region.” Visitors can look forward to a varied stage program that includes dance, gymnastics, acrobatics and classical gymnastics. Everything is organized so that the performances take place in 30-minute intervals in order to give as many groups as possible a chance.
Participation offers and highlights
A special highlight are the interactive participation offers. These include the “Turn Warrior”, a mobile ski jump, football golf and even an XXL table football. A children's gymnastics course and clown performances are planned for the little ones, which will certainly make their eyes wide open. In addition, visitors can expect all-day offers in various sporting disciplines. Here you can, for example, try out back fitness, ultimate frisbee, karate or Zumba. There is even something on offer for yoga and forest bathing lovers!
Support also comes from LOTTO Hessen, which contributes significantly to the success of this event. This partnership not only provides financial help, but also a broad presentation of the sports landscape in Hesse. In the Burgpark, near the HIT RADIO FFH broadcasting building, the atmosphere will certainly be inviting and lively.
Volunteering and challenges
A central aspect of the festival is volunteer commitment, which continues to be crucial to the success of such events. Although the Wetterau sports district is seeing a declining number of clubs, fortunately there are more and more members. Especially in recent years, after the Corona pandemic, many people have returned to their sports clubs and new faces have arrived. This shows that enthusiasm for the sport remains in the region.
Nevertheless, it is a challenge to get enough people to volunteer. Initiatives such as “German Volunteers” strive to strengthen volunteer commitment in order to implement events even more successfully. A platform is created where interested parties and organizers can come together. The goal is clear: one million volunteers at events in Germany.
The Festival of Sports at Hessentag is not only a celebration of sport, but also an invitation to get actively involved in the community. Jörg K. Wulf hopes that visitors will not only be inspired, but also find the courage to look for similar offers in their home country and help strengthen club life. So if you're interested in sport and exercise, you definitely shouldn't miss this event!
