Cleanliness in Hanau: New campaign and local transport plan revealed!

With the new cleanliness campaign “JuchHU clean – For a more beautiful Hanau”, the city of Hanau is setting clear accents in the areas of environmental protection and quality of life. The campaign was recently presented by public order officer Isabelle Hemsley and is intended to raise citizens' awareness of how to handle waste responsibly. “There’s something there,” said Hemsley, “we want to actively motivate people to do their part for a clean city.” reported also through the visible presence of the campaign on garbage trucks, posters and trash cans.

With a vivid opening event at Freiheitsplatz on Saturday, the city police will be on site with the “Mobile Guard” to explain the consequences of illegal waste dumping. Every year, Hanau Infrastructure Services (HIS) has to collect around 180 tons of illegally dumped waste, which costs the city additional costs of around 100,000 euros, which ultimately have to be passed on to the waste fees. “This is money that could be better used for other important things,” said a HIS representative.

Interest and opportunities to participate

With the campaign, the city aims to actively involve citizens in maintaining cleanliness. Participants from various areas such as volunteers, clubs and schools are called upon to get involved as cleanliness sponsors. This initiative aims to promote cooperation and at the same time convey a good level of responsibility, adds the official website the city of Hanau.

On Saturday, visitors will also be presented with various information stands, including a stand from Hanauer Straßenbahn GmbH (HSB), which provides information about the future local transport plan. The draft plan will be presented on Freedom Square that day between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Last year, HSB transported over 15 million passengers and is now planning to optimize the timing and routing. The aim is to create closer cooperation with citizens through citizen participation formats.

Waste separation and awareness raising

The city's trash flyer will be updated to provide accurate information about violations and fines. For example, throwing away cigarette butts costs a fine of at least 75 euros, while spitting out chewing gum is also punished with 75 euros. There is a risk of a fine of up to 200 euros if dog owners do not clean up their dog waste. This information will also be discussed in the planned training courses and workshops on waste prevention and separation, which are part of the campaign explained the connection between urban planning and waste management and emphasizes the importance of raising public awareness.

In addition, the city of Hanau shows that effective waste management and well-thought-out urban planning are inextricably linked. Citizens should be encouraged to actively participate in waste separation. To help citizens, the city has set up numerous distribution points for garbage bags and created other disposal options.

Overall, the city of Hanau not only wants to promote cleanliness, but also create a community in which environmental protection and quality of life go hand in hand. “Together we can do it!” is the tenor against illegal waste and for a clean city.
