Hanau Open Air Festival: Four days full of action and fun await you!
There is reason to be happy in Hanau from June 19th to 22nd, 2025, as the city invites you to a colorful mix of open-air events. Not only musical highlights but also sporting activities are on the program. As the city of Hanau announces, both families and young people will get their money's worth with the diverse offering. The events last several days and promise lots of fun and entertainment for everyone.
This is particularly in the spotlight 3×3 Basketball Hesse Championship, which starts at Freiheitsplatz on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. This championship is part of the 3×3 LOTTO Hessen tour, which is being held for the fourth time this summer and includes a total of 9 locations. Here, players of all age groups, from U12 to seniors, can look forward to exciting matches and sporting rivalry. Beginners and experienced 3×3 players are equally welcome – a great chance to show off your basketball talent!
A festival of diversity
But the basketball event is only part of the big offer! The “Abendgold” event begins on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Old Town Market with live music from Andy & Tofino. There is open air bingo in the Fronhof from 7 p.m. until late at night, while culinary delights are available from 5 p.m. The city becomes the setting for a real festival that appeals to all the senses.
- Mittsommerfest in der Lindenstraße: Samstag von 11 bis 18 Uhr mit Live-Musik und finnischen Spezialitäten.
- Spanisches Sommerfest bei „Casa Ana“ in der Hirschstraße: Samstag von 14 bis 20 Uhr.
- DJ-Events: Samstag ab 19 Uhr im Fronhof.
- Gartenfest im Staatspark Hanau-Wilhelmsbad: Donnerstag bis Sonntag mit 180 Ausstellern und einem historischen Karussell täglich von 11 bis 16 Uhr.
The Brothers Grimm Festival also offers a breakfast special with a performance of “Hansel and Gretel” on Friday at 10 a.m. Further performances take place on Thursday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. If you like Oscar Wilde, you shouldn't miss his play “Bunbury” on Friday at 8.30 p.m. in the amphitheater. On Saturday there will also be “The Bremen Town Musicians” at 3 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Family friendly activities
For little explorers, a pet theme day in the “Alte Fasanerie” wildlife park on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. offers exciting insights. On the same day there is also the opportunity to take part in a city tour of Steinheim's old town at 1 p.m. For craft enthusiasts, a family steam engine workshop will be offered in the Großauheim Museum on Sunday from 3 p.m. A varied program for the whole family!
