Save lives: Blood donation today in Gelnhausen and the surrounding area!
What does today bring in the Main-Kinzig district? Blood donation is high on the agenda in the region, particularly important this time of year when supplies often dwindle during the summer holidays. The German Red Cross (DRK) appeals to everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to donate blood and thereby save lives. Today, August 27, 2025, interested donors can take action in three cities.
In Schöneck-Kilianstädten, blood is taken at the community center at Richard-Wagner-Straße 5 from 3:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. At the same time, there is also the opportunity to donate in the garden hall of the concert hall in Bad Orb. The doors there are open between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. There is also a practical option for Hanau residents: Donations can be made at the pop-up station in the Forum Hanau from 1:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Registration is not necessary, but it is recommended to reserve appointments in advance to minimize waiting times.
Improved blood donation offerings
The summer holidays are often characterized by a decline in blood donors, which makes the situation for blood reserves critical. The DRK blood donation service emphasizes that there is no longer an upper age limit for donation. The minimum requirement is that donors must be at least 18 years old. If you are interested, you should bring an ID card or driver's license. The actual donation takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes, followed by a 10-minute relaxation period. After the donation, donors are offered a snack or a packed lunch to regain their strength. Further information about blood donation appointments is available at www.blooddonation.now or by phone on 0800 11 949 11.
But it's not just blood donation that's on the agenda today. A writing workshop evening will also take place in Gelnhausen. This is where authors come together to discuss their work and exchange feedback. The participation fee is 19 euros and you can register simply by email to kontakt@ninakremer.de. A perfect space for creatives to exchange ideas and be inspired!
Politics and citizen participation
In the evening, Gelnhausen also offers the opportunity for political participation. A public city council meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Höchst village community center. The main topic will be the SPD's proposal to set up a file inspection committee that deals with events in the Gelnhausen outdoor pool. This is intended to help educate and strengthen Mayor Christian Litzinger. An exciting opportunity for interested citizens to get involved in local political processes and to actively help shape them.
So there is a lot to do in Gelnhausen and the surrounding area for both creative minds and charitable helpers. Today's offerings offer a good opportunity not only to do good, but also to actively participate in community life. Whether blood donation, writing workshop or political engagement – there is something for everyone here!
