New community center in Falkenstein: million-dollar project for the future!

There is reason to be happy in Königstein: the new building of the community center in Falkenstein is getting closer. On July 1, 2025, the landing beach decided to move forward with plans for the new building of the 53-year-old community center. As the FNP reported, the city parliament has set the corresponding funds in the budget for 2025, which represents a promising step. The demolition phase of the old building is scheduled to begin in spring 2026 after the new concept has been brought to the city council.

The old building, which was erected poorly thought out in the 1970s, had both structural and technical defects: failures in the heating system and dilapidated electrical systems made a new building necessary. The local CDU parliamentary group leader Daniel Georgi emphasizes the role of the community center as a multifunctional meeting place that attracts around 500 people every week.

Financing and planning

The total cost of the project is around 9.58 million euros, which is a considerable sum. The city administration is hoping for funding in the mid-six-figure range to cushion the financial burden. “We have to make the investment amount as efficient as possible,” Georgi continued. The Taunus news also reports that the planned parking deck will also be optimized to meet the requirements in order to provide enough parking spaces.

An examination of the proposals made by other groups at the time to shift funds showed that they were not only rejected, but also that there was a great consensus in favor of the new building. The FDP's request to suspend the project was rejected with 22 votes.

Social significance

The community center is not only a cultural center, but also a place for social communication and sporting activities. The German Energy Agency has also proven that investments in modern, energy-efficient public buildings are essential. In view of the desired climate goals, the new building of the community center will also have to meet these requirements.

Overall, it can be seen that the city of Königstein has made a clear commitment to building a new community center in Falkenstein. The next steps are now being kept in mind and the hope for funding remains. It will be exciting to see how the project develops over the next few months!
