Pumpkin soup and art: Anniversary celebration at the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden on October 4th!
On Saturday, October 4th, a special celebration will take place at the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: the 20th anniversary of the popular pumpkin soup festival. Originally created to process the harvested pumpkins from Vollrad Kutscher's impressive park sculpture, the festival has now become an integral part of the city's cultural life. This sculpture, created as part of the Wiesbaden Art Summer 2004, is made up of stainless steel lattice balls that are arranged on a mound of earth and are planted annually with cheerful, bright pumpkins.
In 2005 the sculpture found its new place on the Dern site. From 2016, the pumpkin soup festival was moved from the Kurpark to the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden, where it is now celebrated in a festive setting. This year the festival will also be celebrated in the context of the exciting exhibition "Why are you creative? By Hermann Vaske", which is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. So it is doubly worthwhile for visitors to stop by, not only because of the delicious soup that is enjoyed together, but also because of the creative inspiration that the exhibition offers. The Kunsthaus invites everyone interested to get creatively involved on this special day.
Creative contributions welcome
A highlight of the festival is the participation: If you want, you can take part in the “Ode to the Pumpkin” by Vollrad Kutscher, which is sung to the melody of “Joy of Beautiful Gods’ Sparks”. This promises both musical and social moments. Participants are welcome to submit their own contributions in the form of pumpkin soup recipes or artistic representations. These creative ideas are collected and documented and then presented online on the website “20 Years of Pumpkin Soup Festival – Vollrad Kutscher”.
Anyone interested in taking part in this special art project can register by Thursday, October 2nd. Vollrad Kutscher himself will be present on the festival day and chat with guests about his sculpture and the origins of the festival. A real treat for art and soup lovers!
In summary, the anniversary of the Pumpkin Soup Festival at the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden is not only a culinary event, but also a wonderful opportunity for the community to share and celebrate creativity. Be there and be inspired!
