In recent days, the Rheingau-Taunus district has experienced a worrying series of break-ins and traffic accidents that have put many residents on alert. On Friday, October 31, 2025, several break-ins were reported in the region, which were apparently carried out by unknown perpetrators.

One of the break-ins occurred in Linienbad-Bärstadt. Between twelve and eleven o'clock in the evening, the perpetrators broke into a single-family home on Schöne Aussicht street by prying open a window and forcibly opening the patio door to the main building. All rooms were ransacked, but the burglars escaped undetected. The police will receive information about this on (06124) 7078-0.

More break-ins in the district

In Taunusstein-Orlen, a property in the back alley was also broken into between 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. The perpetrators threw stones at the patio door and searched the upper floor. Jewelry and cash were stolen before they also fled unrecognized.

An attempted break-in took place in a single-family home on Altkönigweg in Idstein. Two people dressed in dark clothing, one of them wearing a hooded jacket, tried to get in through a broken kitchen window. Witnesses reported an escape towards Feldbergstrasse. The material damage amounts to around 500 euros.

And that's not all: another break-in was recorded in an apartment building in Hünstetten-Beuerbach on Saturday, November 1st. The perpetrators pried open a kitchen window and searched several rooms, but were surprised by residents and fled with stolen jewelry.

Traffic accidents and drunk driving

Traffic accidents were also reported at the same time. In Hohenstein-Breithardt, an 18-year-old driver came into contact with a manhole cover that had been lifted from its anchorage in his Opel Corsa. Fortunately, he was uninjured, but there was significant damage to the vehicle. The police have launched an investigation into dangerous interference with road traffic, and information is also welcome here.

On the same day, at two in the morning, the police caught a 22-year-old man in Eltville-Hattenheim who was driving a black BMW 1 Series under the influence of alcohol. An alcohol test showed more than 1.8 per mille, which led to a blood test and the confiscation of his driver's license. A criminal case for drunk driving is pending here.
