Child seriously injured in accident in Hofheim – witnesses wanted!

A series of incidents sent the region around Hofheim and the surrounding area into turmoil today, September 4, 2025. The police in particular have been called upon in recent days as several crimes have affected the feeling of security in the neighborhood.

According to news.de, there was an unsuccessful attempt to steal an ATM on Heddingheimer Straße in Hattersheim on September 3rd at 6:50 a.m. Two perpetrators who tried to break into an arcade were observed by an attentive witness who immediately called the police. The men then fled on foot towards the noise barrier on the A66. Information is requested to the criminal investigation department on (06196) 2073-0.

Burglary at campsite

Another incident occurred on the night of September 3rd in Eppstein-Niederjosbach, when two masked thieves broke into a tool shed at a campsite between 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. In addition to tools and garden equipment, the perpetrators also stole an e-bike and an e-scooter, increasing the value of the loot to several thousand euros. Information is also requested to the criminal police on (06196) 2073-0.

The report about a stolen Piaggio scooter, which was stolen from its parking space on Lortzingstrasse in Bad Soden between August 30th and September 2nd, is also not very encouraging. The scooter was worth around 3,500 euros and was locked. The police are looking for witnesses and are asking for information on (06196) 9695-0.

Serious bicycle accident

An accident ended particularly tragically on Thursday, September 4th at 1:20 p.m. when a 12-year-old boy ignored the right of way of a school bus on his bicycle on Nachtigallenweg in Hofheim. The collision resulted in serious injuries to the boy, who had to be taken to hospital for treatment. An expert has now been called in to reconstruct the accident in order to clarify the exact circumstances.

In a broader context, it becomes clear that crime related to e-bikes is not just a regional issue. Last year, over 300,000 euros of bicycles, mainly e-bikes, were stolen in the Arnsberg area, as wdr.de reported. The perpetrators, who come from Serbia, mainly broke into bike shops and stole bicycles that were parked in company parking lots. The arrested men were sentenced to prison; the main perpetrator got five years and six months. A neighbor who tried to alert the police was seriously injured during the arrest and had to spend several weeks in the hospital.

In light of these events, it is important that citizens remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to the police. The security situation has worried faces in the community, and everyone can help make the neighborhood safer.
