Three robberies in Hofheim and Hattersheim: Police are looking for witnesses!

In the early morning of July 12, 2025, a robbery-related extortion was reported in Hofheim am Taunus. At 1:40 a.m. at the Hofheim S-Bahn station, a 26-year-old man who was traveling with a friend was the target of a perpetrator who threatened him with an unknown object and demanded that valuables be handed over to him. The perpetrator, a male young adult between 20 and 25 years old with a southern appearance, was around 180 cm tall, wore a black cap, a red jacket and dark trousers. The criminal police in Sulzbach have started the investigation and are asking for information on (06196) 2073-0, as news.de reports.

The crime statistics for Germany show a continuing trend in thefts and robberies. In 2022, around 5.63 million crimes were recorded nationwide, including 1.78 million thefts. Robbery, which involves the violent theft of property, has also come into focus, not least because of the increasing number of handbag snatchers and violent attacks on train stations such as in Hofheim.

Trick theft in Hattersheim

On Friday, July 11, 2025, there was a trick theft in Hattersheim am Main. An 84-year-old man was outwitted by a 30 to 35-year-old perpetrator with a well-groomed appearance who distracted him. During the distraction, the perpetrator put a ring on the victim and hung a gold chain around him, only to then steal the man's wedding ring and gold necklace. The perpetrator then fled in a silver Audi A4 with a foreign license plate, as presseportal.de reports. Investigations are ongoing.

Burglaries and thefts in Hattersheim

Another incident occurred on July 10, 2025 in Hattersheim, when two unknown people broke into an ice cream machine and stole the cash box. These perpetrators were between 25 and 30 years old and also had a southern appearance. A witness saw the two men, who were wearing black hoodies, flee. The police are still investigating this incident.

In addition, on the same day in Eschborn, a wallet was stolen from a 72-year-old woman's backpack while her friend was standing by. There were two perpetrators, a male and a female, who appeared international because the man's language was not German. This type of theft is not only a problem in Hofheim and Hattersheim, but also extends throughout the entire Main-Taunus district.

The number of thefts and robberies has increased in recent years. In 2022, there were almost 1.8 million thefts in the police statistics. This shows that the protection of property is very important in Germany and that citizens need to be more vigilant in order to prevent such crimes. The police emphasize that tips from citizens are extremely important and can actively contribute to solving crimes, which is particularly important in the current incidents in Hesse.
