Chemnitz in an anime frenzy: 8,000 fans at ShiroCo-Con!
An exciting weekend is coming: Chemnitz will become a stronghold for anime and manga fans! The third edition of the ShiroCo Convention impresses with an extensive program and a growing number of visitors. This year, around 8,000 guests from near and far are expected for the event - almost twice as many as last year, when the premiere began with over 1,500 visitors. [MDR] reports that the event will take place in the foyers of the town hall, in the Carlowitz Congress Center as well as in the large town hall hall and on the event level of the adjacent hotel.
The ShiroCo Convention is enjoying increasing interest and even attracts international guests. Project manager Marcel Eschborn has already signaled his anticipation of around 100 program highlights. These include workshops on make-up and wig styling, exciting stage panels, various autograph sessions and the popular cosplay competitions in which participants transform themselves into their favorite characters. [Tag24] names the prominent jury, which has a few surprises in store, and highlights that the voice actor Tommy Morgenstern (known from “Dragon Ball”) is one of the guests of honor.
A celebration for the community
The Chemnitz anime and manga community has developed enormously in recent years. Even in cities like Dresden and Erfurt, more and more fans are jumping on the bandwagon. “The event will be broadcast live on the Internet on ShiroCo-TV,” says founder Victorian Gumprecht, who started with smaller events and has now reached such dimensions. ShiroCo is doing a good business, and interest in cosplay and anime continues to grow.
This year the event will be extended to two days to meet the huge demand. Also new is the Maidcafé, where cosplayers serve visitors, which will certainly result in some special moments. [Blick] highlights that, in addition to the many stalls selling costumes and collectibles, artists from the scene are also represented, including manga artists and the animation studio Soybloq. In addition, prominent YouTubers such as Raafey and EineLotta will be there to talk about female characters in anime.
